Wayanad in Kerala, India is in the news lately for the tragic landslides and loss of lives and property because of the heavy monsoon rains. However, that should be tempered with the most tranquil place in Kerala for birding, bird watching and avian diversity in the majestic mountains of the western ghats to which Wyanad belongs. The forests of wayanad are most serene and dense with both wildlife and birds both native and migratory. in 2023, I had the opportunity to visit this remarkable area exclusively for bird photography. I have taken photographs of about 76 “lifers” in the area. My stay was in the beautiful resort called Lantern Stay in the middle of the forests. This short video is about my trip and how I remember the place so fondly.
